  • The Division of Adolescent & Young Adult Medicine (D.A.Y.A.M.)

    DAYAM provides comprehensive, compassionate, trauma informed, culturally competent, and inclusive services to adolescents and young adults ages 13-26. These services are provided through the delivery of a broad range of health, psychosocial services, and interventions in its ambulatory clinic & community based programs.

  • Research with a Heart

    We strive to elevate everyone and re-humanize research both for and with the communities we serve. Our team is dynamic, diverse and led fiercely by a team of women who collectively have over 30 years of research experience. We are primarily funded through the NIH and conduct research studies that focus on treatment and prevention of infectious diseases – namely HIV and COVID-19 – in various communities of people, ensuring their contributions are valued and voices are heard with the help and support from our Research Community Advisory Board (RCAB), community partners and dedicated participants.

    The Newark LGBTQ Community Center is a volunteer-run, community-based organization committed to providing safe space, programs, and services that support the well-being of the LGBTQ community and our allies in the Newark, New Jersey area.

    "The Rutgers Center for Transgender Health is a multidisciplinary center that provides a full spectrum of medical and surgical care for people of the transgender and gender non-binary (TGNB) experience. Our team of expert health professionals offer a compassionate, coordinated approach to gender affirmation."

  • The Newark Library- LGBTQ Resources

    The Newark Public Library (NPL) is committed to serving the city’s LGBTQ community, and has created a designated LGBTQ space within the Main Library at 5 Washington Street.

  • RBHS Food Pantry at Newark Health Sciences

    The NJCRI food pantry adds to our clients' quality of life. Much of the food distributed through our food pantry is donated by caring individuals, businesses, houses of worship, and other organizations. A large percentage of the food we distribute comes from the New Jersey Food Bank. On occasion, we purchase fresh produce from a local wholesaler and make it available to our clients.

  • Project WOW (NJCRI)

     "Project WOW creates a safe and affirming space where LGBTQ youth can socialize, build community, develop leadership skills and access relevant sexual health, mental health and substance abuse services and education. It believes that each and every LGBTQ person has a voice that should be heard and recognized."

  • NJCRI Food Distribution Center

  • The Hetrick-Martin Institute

    Connecting LGBTQ+ youths to a multitude of services such as: 

    - Street outreach for homeless youth including pantry, housing support & case management

    - Peer Health & Education Leadership

    - Job readiness including resume writing, skills training and internship placement

    - Coalition of non-profit agencies (Kiki) provides community mobilization for LGBTQ youth

  • The Drop-in Center (NJCRI)

    "The Drop-in center at NJCRI is a clean and safe space for displaced adults,  as well as those battling with substance abuse. Individuals can shower, wash clothes, and have a lunch or snack. We are here not only to help but to empower by giving them access to services, support groups, and educational and life lesson workshops to facilitate positive change and improvement in their quality of life. We continuously work with community partners to provide innovative and comprehensive services to those affected by homelessness. "

  • Project Access (NJCRI)

    "Project Access is the only syringe exchange program  (SEP) located in Newark.  The program is authorized by the State of New Jersey and the City of Newark to distribute sterile syringes to injection drug users, and to accept used needles for proper disposal. The program is anonymous and participants are provided with a card identifying them as a program participant which allows them to legally possess syringes. At the present time the project operates from Monday through Friday (9AM-4PM), except on holidays."

  • Masakhane

    "Masakhane, an organisation that provides sex positive sex ed to marginalised communities, specifically poor Black and Brown people in Newark, New Jersey, US, makes sure to acknowledge a painful and ongoing history of 'reproductive oppression in its teachings."

  • The African American Office of Gay Concerns (AAOGC)

    "The African American Office of Gay Concerns mission is to comprehensively serve as a resource for the well-being of Gay men of color, inclusive of, but not limited to the gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning communities through outreach, education and compassionate care. It is committed to delivering quality HIV/AIDS services to the Gay community in the Greater Newark Area."

  • Professional Development Workshops and Consultation

    Amanda Simpson (she/they) from NJCRI may be able to collaborate with organizations and schools in order to broaden and increase inclusivity within the workspace.

  • Project TEA NJ

    NJCRI organization providing HIV testing, PrEP referrals, linkage to care, name change assistance, and connection to community events.

  • Newark Police LGBTQIA+ Liaison

    Detective Brian Holmes serves as the LGBTQIA+ liaison as of March 31st, 2021, in order to foster a strong relationship with the LGBTQ community. The detective collaborates with the LGBTQ community on events, and monitors the division's response to LGBTQ-related crimes.
